Acceptances for the , Great Northern Jdurdles and Steeplechase close on Friday. .The- bad' weather and the restricted tram service completely spoilt the Hawke e Bay meeting, and the club will be lucky if it balances accounts without a loss. The raoing on both days wan splendid, and some excellont finishes were witnessed. During tho two days only two favourites were successful, which shows how -well the handicapper (Mr. H. Coyle) concealed the winners. Croesus was an acceptor for tho Farewell Handicap at Hastings on Saturday, but ho was: not produced owing to tho heavy, state of tbegoing.
