AMERICAN STEAMER SUNK FOURTEEN PERSONS MISSING London, May 4. Two submarines torpedoed and sank the American steamer Rockingham. Two boats, containing thirty-three survivors, were rescued by patrols and landed in Ireland. A third boat, with fourteen occupants, is missing. Ymuiden reports that a Duteh trawler was torpedoed. The crew landed.— Reuter. . SINKING OF THE ARCADIAN SMART WORK BY PATROL ■ BOATS Marseilles, May 4. The transport Arcadian was sunk at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Patrol vessels were quickly on the scene and began the work of reßcue. Officers andi men showed splendid gallantry and| jumped into tho water and picked up survivors. NORWEGIAN GRAVE. PROBLEM PRESENTED ' .. Christiania, May 4. Tho' President of the Storthing states that Norwegian shipping losses present a grave problem. If they aro continued it will be impossible to replace the tonnage. At the present rato the whole mercantile marjne will be wiped out in eighteen months. The "Aftenpost" states that sixtysix Norwegian vessels were sunk during March and seventy during April. One hundred Norwegian sailors were killed during April.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn,
