NEWSPAPERS FINED «FOE. • BREACHES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Chrlstchurch, May 1. The adjourned cases for breaches of the Wai*Regulations against the managers of the "Lyttelton Times" and Christchurch "Press" were heard today, before Mr. Bailey, S.M. The former was charged with publishing information regarding tho arrival of a steamer in Great Britain and the latter with publishing similar information, also a picture of an overseas steamer at New Plymouth in the "Weekly Press." Tho Magistrate fined tho "Times" manager £1 with costs, and imposed a similar fine on the "Press" on the first information. He said tne publication in the "Weekly Press" was a more serious breach, and fixed tho penalty in that instance at £3, with costs.
