'lik? ennivcvsjs'v "social" in connection with tho l&lburn Presbyterian Church was'iiokl oii Tuesday evening, there being a good attendance Iho Rev. A. C. \V. Standage presided. An address was delivered by OhaplainCaptairi Scott, of Trentbam, and an enjoyable programme was rendered, consisting of songs by Mrs. R. xon, Mr. It. Tait, Mr. W. Goudio, Mrs. H. F. "Wood, and Mr. H. l< , . Vood, and recitations by Miss Petric. Miss L. Caddick played tho accompaniments. The gathbring also took the ionn of a farewell "social"'.to Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Fleming and faim'iy and Miss Smith, who have for many years been closely associated with tho congregation, and are shortly leaving for Dunedin. On behalf of tho congregation Mr. Standage presented them with an autograph album containing the allographs of the members' and adherently and also containing photographs of interest in connection with the church. The Rev. W. J. Comrio and Messrs. Tait and Hay, on behalf of the various organisations of the church, spoke of the .valued services rendered during the past years by the family in question, and of the great regret that was felt regarding their departure. Mr. Memintr responded on behalf of Miss Smith, himself, and family. Supper was provided by the ladies, and a pleasant evening terminated by a vote of thanks (proposed by Mr. C. S. Moore) to those who- lad contributed towards its success. :
