A COLD, BRACING DAY

Yesterday was fine, but very cold. The state of tho thermorteter kept people on the move, and brought out many heavy overcoats from wintier wardrobes'. Present indications, states the official forecast, aro for variable winds, easterly and south-easterly predominating, and increasing in and northward of Cook Strait. The weather will be from fair to cloudy generally, but the northern districts are likely to experience stormy conditions shortly.
