'. The/sixth annual meeting of. the .Anglican;Boys'Homes Society was held in. the Diocesan Office, Mulgrave Street, last evening. • Mr. ■J. W. Henderson occupied:the chair, and- apologies were received from His Lordship the Bishop .'tot. Wellington, the Rev. Mr. Fancourt, ■the Rev; Mr. .Walton, and the Rev. ifllr. Woodward'. ■■'■■■__ In moving, the adoption of. the. report liand balance-sheet (which Lave already jappeared), the chairman referred to the faofc-that the society-was now in a better position -than it had been be.They now 'had £900 in hand, of which £700 had been bequeathed fronvthe estate of the) late Mr. Peter Smith. To secure the adequate income which' was needed, it \was, necessary to get an extension of membership. An assured income would be created in, jthis. way. : ; As" far' as circumstances allowed, the society had been very successfal in itß 'operations. Fifteen boys were i accommodated in the home, and even:then it was crowded. ' . In, seconding the motion, the Rev. 'A. M. Johnson congratulated the society; unon.'the' success that had attended its efforts. It was a venture

Mr. Johnson thought the. f society were to be congratulated upon lithe energy, thought,'and work that the had shown in carrying out their duties, and especially wero they to be congratulated upon having secured
Mrs. Haseltine as their matron. Her influence upon the boys was wonderful. Mr. D. M. Yeates, in speaking to the motion, described, as one with an intimate. knowledge of his. subject, the transformation that had been effected in regard to the manners and general outlook of the boys.- The adoption of the report and: balance-sheet were finally agreed to. ■ '■ A motion expressing hearty appreciation of the work done by the hon. secretary 1. H. Ballaehey) and the hon. treasurer (Miss M. A. Marohant) was passed, on the motion of the Rev. A. M. Johnson.
The election of officers was next proceeded with, and: the following were appointed:—Patron, the Right Rev. the Bishop of Wellington; president, Mr. J. AY. Henderson; vice-presidents, Rev. A. L. Hahsell, Rev. W. Fancourt, Rov. 6. B. Stephenson, and; Rev. Mr. Sykes; non-official members, Mts. Anson, Miss Robinson, Rev. "VV. H. Walton,' Mr. Q. o.,Bridges, Mr. J. W. A. Marchant, Miss ,Stuar£Forbes, Mrs. Scales (subject to acceptance); *ion. treasurer, ject to acceptance); bon. treasurer, Mr. E. H. Ballachey. Votes of thanks were passed So Mr. Rishworth for his services as honorary dentist, Dr. Mirams, honorary physician,' Messrs. Young and Tripe, hon. solicitors, Mr. K. S. Farmer, hon. auditor, and others who have assisted at various times, and further references to the work of the matron, Mrs. Haseltine, were heartily endorsed by the meeting.
