HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
Ameeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday morning, • the chairman" (Mr. Wakeham) presiding, and there were also present Councillors Howell, Wolch, Whitcman, Edwards, and Galloway. The Inspector of Works (Mr. J. W, Cudby).reported that several hundred yards of rock were boing quarried at Golder's Corner, and the rock is to be crushed as soon as possible r.nd carted to Pahautanui township. • Thirty-two feet of forty-two-inch concrete pipes had been ordered for the boundary road botween Waikanae and Reikiorangi. Timber had been ordered for Donovan's bridgo at Otaihangai and the bridge in Mungakotukutuku Valloy, near the Game 'Farm. In the Mungaroa riding a 60ft. by 15-inch pipe had teen put in near the top of Horse-Shoo Bend. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £997 ss. 9d. The State Advances Office wrote advising the council that the result of tho poll on No. .12 loan had been gazetted, stating that.a loan 0f.,£1000 could not be granted, 1 and stating ; ,that £50, being 10 per cent, on No. .Ijtloan, .fiad been lodged with the Bank'of.Ne'sf.Zealand. Two letters" and.;a Gazette.', hotico froni the New Zealand -"Expeditionary Forces Headquarters, : declaring a sanitary- area at Trentfiam, wore'received by tho council. The Minister of Public Works wroto stating that at present' there was' no money available for the White Bridgo.
