THE BATTLE OF LENS ANOTHER ACCOUNT OF THE FIGHTING — (Kec. April 17, 0.45 a.m.) London, April 16. A correspondent, iu a graphio de J scription of the attack on Lens, says:—■ "If became evident on Friday that the enemy was quitting the •town as speedily as possible, but Saturday's; events showed that he had still maintained & ring of strong machine-gun redoubts. Consequently, when the attackers from the south disappeared in a street near the. Bois 3e Riaumont, the ;utmost caution was necessary. They wriggled through'back gardens until they reached another-street behind , tho wood, which was attacked from , the north. The German' machine-gunners were nonplussed. The British meanwhile posted machine-guns, which enabled them to snipe the. entire , crews from new vantage points.: "The enemy on Sunday, threw his entire weight on the inrier defences, in .the desperate hope of checking-tho : advance /until the guns and' stores had been removed. Rodzianko, and M. Gutchoff represent the Patriotic Moderate Liberals. M. Kerensky continually insists on the necessity for de-. feating the enemy, but he has many, enemies, including the extreme anarchical elements. It is impossible to 6ay what may happen if M.
