Ohristchuroh,' has received advice that her son, Captain Kenneth Muirson, of the Australian Imperial Force, lias been promoted to; the rank of major. Major Muirson, who has just attained his twenty-second birthday, was at tho landing at Gallipoli, and took part in the evacuation of the Peninsula. • Since then he has been in France, and' so far has escaped without a scratch.' Mr. Thomas E. Robson, of Christchurch, has reoeived advice that his son, Hector H. Robson, has.been appointed by- the Admiralty senior and .chief engineer, H.M.S. . Mr. Robson, who is twonty-nine 'years of age, relieved a man of fifty-two, and furthermore, is stated to be the youngest engineer in , command, of tho ships of this class.. ■ • ■ ■

Mr. R. E. Lechncr, postmaster nt Reeftqn, has retired from'the Post and Telegraph Department after forty-two years' service.
