SPIRITUALISTS' CONFERENCE
SATURDAY'S. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS. Tho annual convention of the Spirtualist Churches of New Zealand w opened on Good Friday in the New Contury Hall and was continued on Saturday. Mr. W. o."'Nation (prosidont) occupied tho chair. There were about 35 delegates and visitors from Ehrnedin, Christehurch, 'Wangamii, Levin, and Waihi present. '.- The president, in his opening address, read tho reports'from the various churches, and spoke of tho progress made by spiritualism in tho Dominion. The difficxilty was now, lio said,. to find speakers for the various platforms. General busifless was gone through and tho proceedings, wqire adjourned until to-day. .. On Friday evening'a public meeting and "social" were held and .various musical and other items rendered by Mesdaraos Burgo and Morris anol Madame Mueller and party. Short addresses were delivered.by.Messrs. Nation,;' Page, Morris, and Harding; The conference met again on Saturday morning_ and a considerable volume of business was gone through. There was a good deal of disoussion on a motion • "That a fund bo started for the defence, of any medium or other spiritualistic workers who ■ mighA be proceeded against'by tho authorities." Another motion':''' "That definite ways and means be arrived at to placo and maintain the spiritualistic churches of New Zealand in a sound and recognised financial basis," was also_ the subject' of disoussion. Final decisions have not' yet been arrived at. ' ' , .;■ . * The delegates were entertained at" luncheon and everything possible has been dono to make their eiay in Wellingtph. ijnjoyable. Special meetings were held' , yesterday, and a farewell "social" and concert to tho delegates is arranged for this evening. '
