Pur cuns approached before they were expected.- (There was no regular bombardment, but the 'registration' shots inflicted heavy casualties. St. Quenturis now threatened by the British on the west,. arid the I'Vonch on-the south; Prom Savy the spires of St' Quentrn Cathedral are visible. Tho town itself is -hidden in the hollow! Dirty work has been done in spoiling tho beauty of this medieval city. The Germans have already laid portion of tho city in ruins, and houses," museums, and , picture eallories have boon looted.
