' At the Ohamber of Odmmcroo Teßlcrday Messrs. Levin and 00., Ltd., offered for sale, on behalf of the liquidator of tho Wellington and Wauganui Steam Packet Company, tho steamers Putiki end Huia. Mr. Norman Gorton was tho auctioneer. Tho Putiki (433 tons), built in 1904, was first offered, but there was no bid for her. Tho Huia, built in 1178, a vessel or 97 tons, drow a bid of £25, -which was advanced to £50, und withdrawn. Thero ■was a fair attendanoo, but those presentwore apparently more spectators than speculators. Belfast, have launched a new 11,500-ton vessel for the Shaw, Savlll, and Albion Line, specially intended for tho New Zealand trade." OTAGO HARBOUR. Tho harbourmaster reported at tho last meeting of the Otago Harbour Boardthat tho low-water dopths in tho harbour during tho month of February were:—North. Channel, 40ft.; Bond, 30ft.; Deborah Bay, 26ft.; Victoria Ohannel—centre 19ft- sides Uft. During February the arrivals wero 23 coastal vessels of 13.422 tons; six intercolonial vessels of 11,372 tons; and two foreign vessels of 9534 tons; making a total of 31 vessels of 34,328 tons. The departures wero 24 coastal teasels of 16.282 tons; four Intercolonial vessels of 1J,6« tons; and four foreign vessels of 11.288 tons; making a total of 32 vessels of 30,225 tons..

Tho Mapourika arrived at Orcrmaut.il at 11 o'clock yesterday moraine and was to have left last night on tho return trip. She should net hero lato Saturday night. Tho Rosamond from Diincdih should get hero to-day, and will leave on Monday tor Auckland, taking cargo. Tho Kamo is supposed to leavs Greymouth this morning for Wellington with a cargo of coal. Captain T. H. Ohudley, E.N.E.\ (retired list), Marino Superintendent at Wellington for tho Shaw, SavilL and Albion Company, haß just received official intimation that ho has been promoted from tho rank of lieutenant E.N.E. to lioutonantrcommander.
