VARIOUS CASES. Mr. L v G. Reid, S.M. ; presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. , Susan-M'Laughlin, who had been found sleeping on a seat at the Te Aro Railway Station, was charged with possessing insufficient lawful means of support. His, Worship' convicted the defendant and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon. For insobriety, John Samuel Woodhouse was fined 10s., with the alternative of spending three days in gaol. Ernest Samuel French, a soldier, was remanded to Wednesday on a charge of stealing two brass engine bearings, the property ' of the Defence Department., The Eastbourne. Borough Council proceeded against H. E. Manning for commencing the erection of a building before obtaining a permit from tho Borough Surveyor. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate convicted' the defendant and fined him ss. with costs.
