FARMERS' PICNIC

RESULTS OF SPORTS EVENTS.

A very enjoyable picnic was held under the auspices of the Wellington Vegetable and Fruitgrowers Association. at the Hutt Park oil Saturday. The attendance was large, and in addition to farmers and their families from all over the district, a number of representatives of Wellington auctioneering firms were also present. The weather was fine, and the Petone Brass Band being in attendance, gave several selections, which were much appreciated. A good, programm'e of sports was gone through. during the day, tho result of the principal ovonts being as under:— 100 yards trial race, open to farmers and auctioneers and employees—B. Mexted, 1; A'. Kilmister, 2; L. Bartosh, 3. 100 yards (ladies)—-Miss, .Wallaco, 1; Miss Gordon, 2. 50 yards sack race—A. Kilmister, 1; L. Bartosh, 2; G. Dome, 3. 220 yards farmers' race, open to farmers and employees; trophy, picture, presented by Mr. E. Hall, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals—D. Noill, 1; F. Bertelson, 2; L. Saunders, 3. '
