MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

"" -V I : , WHEN NOMINATIONS WILL ' CLOSE. - • The" supplementary roll in connection .with the .coming municipal elections closes to-day. It therefore behoves everyone interested-to see that they are on tii'e roll. Even if, they have voted regularly at K the last halfdozen elections there is'no' absolute guarantee that their names ; may riot have been removed for some reason'or other, or even in pure'error. The'only safeguard for electors against.' disappointment on election _ day (the final Wednesday in April) is toovisit the rolls office in the Town Hall audi see if their names are on the roll, and if not ■to make out a claim for enrolment, at 1 once. This advice will be useless after to-day. '

-An unfortunate error crept, into our columns .yesterday respecting the closing .date* of nominations' for the City Council. That dato has. not yet been fixed by the returning'officer (Mr. J. 'Ames)- but it must be not less than ten days before the date of the election, (which happens on April\ 25). Jjonger notice has to be given in the case of the nomination of candidates to •represent the city on the Harbour Board. Mr. Ames has fixed the closing day in that instance for April 10. In the case" of the nominations for candidates to represent the payers of duos on ships and goods (which are the only candidates the board is concerned in the .election of), the closing day has been fixed for April 18. The dates for the closipg of nominations 'for candidates to represent combined or constituent districts are to be fixed by the returning officers concerned. ■ The only combined districts that the Wellington returning officer is concern T in °are those connected, with the •Wellington Hospital ' and Charitable 'Aid Board. In such cases nominations: we to close on April 18.
