The great advance in the West ououpies roughly a, front of about 130 miles, from a point; just south'of Arras to Soissons, on the Aishe. The broad line of the old front is shown by the black lino, and "the line of Cho furthest kdvanas of the Germans before the battle of . the Marne is also shown. The black line defines the position,as it was bGforo the great Sommo offensive of last July._ For the present! position a line, from below Arras to Croisilles, oast of Bapaume, and in a ourve to Roisel, fcnd down past the western side of St. Quentiu, then out eastward and down to La Fere, and hack to Soissons, gives a rougb guide. , .
