EIGHT PERSONS ARRESTED
DRAMATIC SEQUEL TO A GRUESOME FIND By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, March 21. The accidental discovery of a nmlo skeleton in the bush in Victoria Valley between Kaitaia and Hokianga about a fortnight ago led to a dramatic sequel. Eight Maoris—five men and. three women—havo been arrested on a charge of murder. _ Constablo Sefton, of Kaitaia, at tho time of the discovery, stated that the remains were those of Mitai Aperahana, whose death occurred in August, 1913. Tho body had evidently been buried near the surface of tho ground, as the skeleton had become oxposed. The message further staled that there was suspicion of foul play, and that a good many persons might bo found to havo been concerned in tho alleged assault upon tho deceased.
Detective Cummings went to Kaitaia a week ago to investigate, with the result that tho above arrests have been made.
An inquest will be held nest Wednesday at Kaitaia.
