Hastings, March 2L The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club at a meeting to-day resolved:—"That while recognising that there is considerable difference of opinion as to whether there should ho some limitation of racing under the present conditions we are of opinion that careful consideration to existing interests is especially to see that the (breeding of thoroughbred horses is not discouraged, and tiat the livelihood of a large class of men —trainers and others —who are dependent for a living on such employ merit and are not saitahle for other 1 occupation, is not prejudiced, and! that to obtain fair consideration or the question it is desirable that the Racing Conference call a meeting at an estly date to appoint a committee to consider the whole question, end make recommendations to Government hearing on the whole matter. By Telegraph—Press 'Association. Palmsrston North, March 21. Mr. J. M. Johnston, president of tie Manawatu K. and P. Association, has received the following telegram . from Mr. G. P. Donnelly, Taradale, Hawke's Bay:—"Hearty congratulations to you ana l your , committee on tho stand you have taken regarding A. and P. shows. ; In appreciation, I have nmcH pleasure in increasing my annual subscnptioH during tiie "war to ten guineas. lam strongly of opinion that they should not be dlsoontuiued. I also hold the game opinion as regards racing, and am satisfied that our heroes arc-ay fighting for King and Empire would not bj a party to deprive their friends and relatives of their only outdoor sport. I am hoping the Metropolitan and other clubs will go" into the matter most carefully, and assist the Government by reducing the number or race days if possible.'*
