MAGISTRATE'S COURT

MILK VENDORS FINED. Mr. L. G. Rcid, S.M., presided over the sitting of tlio Magistrate's Court yesterday. The Wellington Dairy Company was charged with soiling milk that was not up to tho standard prescribed by the regulations. Mr. R. Kennedy, who appeared for the de/ondant company, said that it was intended to enter a pica, of guilty, in view of the analyst's report, -winch, was not disputed. Mr. P R. K. Macasscj-, for lis. Crown, said that within the last twelve months tho company had been -warned' on nine occasions, and nine times prosecuted. Ho asked' His Worship to make an order for tho advertising of this conviction. His Worship fined the company £5, and made tho order applied for.' VARIOUS CHARGES. For insobriety. Charles Pederson and Hugh M'Gugan were each fined 10s., with tho alternative of spending three days in gaol. Bartholomew Mahoncv.'who pleaded guilty ton chargo of being found helplessly drunk in Manners Street, was ordered to pay medical expenses, amounting to 17s. 6d. A. charge against Norman Hugh Brinkman, of ■failing to notify a change of abode as required by tho Military Service Act, was adjourned for a. week. Nellie Hani was charged with being the owner of a. dangerous dog. which attacked two persons. Defendant agreed to destroy the animal. Sho was convicted and ordered to pay costs. Dulcio Wyatt, alias Doris TVyatfc, was convictod of and was discharged. On a conviction for habitually consorting with reputed prostitutes, sho was sentenced to two months' imprisonment.

BY-LAW CASES. Campbell Francis, who had ridden s. ] motor-cycle that-had no registration number' affixed to it, was convicted and ordered to pay 7s. costs. Harold Murphy, Albert M'Donald, Patrick Donoghue, and John Jackson, owners of horses found wandering at laTge, were each fined 2s. 6d., with costs 7s. , Cecil C. James, Henry George. Lowis, Richard T. Evans, and Walter F. Taylor were each fined 10s., with 7s. costs, for being in chargo. of insuffi-ciently-lighted vohiclos. Fred Gardner, convicted of a like offence, was ordergd to pay costs, 7s. William George Lawlon, convicted of driving an express too fast round a corner, -was fined 55., with.costs 7s. FAILURE TO ATTEND DRILL. For failure to attend drill,- James Brockie, Ernest Albert Henderson, and Edward Clifford Rule were each fined 10s.; H. J. Thomas -was fined ss.
