FLORENCE ROCKWELL SEASON. 'J'ho season of tho .1. C. Williamson Dramatic Combination at the tirand Opera House will open on Tuesday ovoning next. Nine nights will bo dovoted to tho stay of Miss .Rockwell and her company, which will include that clever young leading actor., Frank Harvey. TUo opening production will be "Tho Houso of Glass," to he presented for four nights only. "Tho Land of Promise" will run for two nights, and
"Tho Law of tho Laud" for threo nights. "Tho House of Glass" is said ! to havo ovorythinpr this typo of play should possess, with considerably more humour than is usually found in this kind of strong drama. It. is said to bo just tho sort of play that grips tho imagination, and holds tho interest) to tho und. Tho second production, "Tho land of Promise," is by W. Somerset Maugham (author of "Lady Frederick"), arid iiTin his very best vein, "The Law of the Land" is 6uid to bo even stronger than "Within tho Law," which play it is said to closely resemble. An unusually strong cast has been secured, comprising some of tho best dramatic artists in Australasia. Tho box plans for the season aro now open nt tho Bristol.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. This week's programme, which has been attracting such largo audiouces, will bo twice presented to-day at His Majesty's Theatre—onco in the afternoon, and as usual in tho evening. Two of the- items 'will be seen for tho last time. Thoy are those of the Victor Prince Company, in o, humorous and entertaining production entitled "A Bit of Irish," and Billy Mann, tho dark-faced comedian. On the Test of the bill are Misa M. Alwyne, whose 6ongs and pleasing voice have won favour; Air. and Miss St. Goorgo, In a statuary item which is novel and picturesque; Alsace, with his -violin and 'cello; and Mark Eriokson, who provokes much merriment with comic songs and stories. ,
NOIiMA TALMADG-E AT THK KING'S. One o£ the Greater Vitagraph Compauy's latest' productions, ' The Crown Prince's Doubfe ; " ia being screened at the King's matinee to-day, and is do- J scribed ns a remarkable offering. ' Maurice Costello in the double role assigned to him is paid to bo specially lino in the scenes of adventures. The ■ plot of the play is packed with swift action, ono surprising situation succeed- , ins another- at; a great rate. Norma Talmadge heads tho feminine cast. A very pretty double love story is woven in the i plot, and the author manages to bring both couples to, happiness. "THE HONOURABLE ALGY" AT EVERYBODY'S. A clover jewel Tobbory forms the central incident in the smart Triangle drama, "The Honourable Algy," commencing at Everybody's this morning. The crinio lakes place on a steamer in tho Atlantic, and tho shipyard scones are described as wonderful pieces of realism. "Algy," tho hero, is a sound piece of character acting by Charles Bay, tho Trianglo star, who looks tho part of rf voung English aristocrat to tho life. Tho story is neatly constructed, and has a delightful ending. Tho second attraction is "Tho Social Vortex." In this instalment of "Gloria's liomance" the increasingly popular Billio Burke as Gloria makes her social debut. "THE HIDDEN SCAR" AT THE EMPRESS. "Ho that is without sin among you, let hiin cast the first stone." This principle of justice is said to bo finely illustrated in "The Hidden ScaT," a powerful World film drama screening at tho Empress this morning. Ethel Clayton, as tho young wife whoso previous mis-step threatens to ruin her whole chanco of life's happiness, is said to act with great power and restraint. Holbrook Blinn is stated to havo • a role which, suits him perfectly. COMING AUCTIONS. Mr. S.
