YESTERDAY'S CONFERENCE
The meeting of, Hie Congregational Onion was resumecjL yesterday, the Rev. ~\Y. M. GrantjjresjdiiicAflor the devotional meeting, which was conducted b.y the Eev. A. E. Hunt, the lnisinoßs of tlio council was taken. Tlio lion. (i. Fowlds read tho Pastors Provident, Fund report, which showed tho total suras standing to tho credit of the various funds'at the end of ihn last financial year amounted to £4970 lls., and now totals £5257 15s. 10d., mado up of capital account £-1430 18s. Sd.; widows and orphans' account £453 16s. 9d., and revenue reserve account £373 Qs_. Id, Investments amount to £4930. and cash in bank £327 15s. 10d. The expenses for tho year were £5 15s. Id., being cost^ of collecting interest and postages. Tlio management of tho fund is to remain in Auckland for tho present. The various unions of the Australian, States have had under consideration proposals for tho amalgamation of their Pastors' Provident Funds. Should a satisfactory scheme be 'dovised for such amalgamation the board recpmmendK that the quesliojj ftf Now Zealand joining in should b"o seriously and favourably 'considered. The report was adopted. A special comnMttce reported that it bad examined "the credentials and testimonials of the Rev. Clyde L". Carr, of the Methodist Conference, and recommended that he be accepted by the union as a minister in full status. The committee bad also examined the credentials of Mr. W. TT. A. Victory and recommonded that the Wellington District Committee be requested to arrange for bis ordination in order that be may be received as a full minister of the church. Another recommendation was that Mr.' T. Soutbwortb, Auckland, should bo accepted as an oxtra-Mural student. All theso recommendations, in addition to' others of ,les? importance were unanimously adopted. Tho Rev. C. L. Carr, who was present, war. cordially received. At tho conference in the afternoon Mr. A. Boavon road a paper ontitlcd "Tho Churches' Outlook." which gave scope for considerable debate. Sunday Schools' Demonstration. In the evening the combined Sunday Schools of the Congregational Church gavo a demonstration in tho Terrace Church. After an opening hymn and a prayer b.y tho Rov. W. M. Trigg, the Terrace Sunday School gave the Beatitudes, the Cambridge Terrace Sunday School the Commandments, and tho Newtown Sunday Scbool the Judgment. An address by tho Rev. Frank Do Lisle followed the singing of a hymn by 'Trinity Sunday School. The Rev. J. H. Ralph also delivered an address. Miss Mackie, assisted by the Terrace Sunday Scbool, contributed a song and chorus, and several hymns were sung by the different Sunday Schools. ■
