It was resolved that an extension of Hult Road should, -bo carried out as soon as the necessary staff can bo spared subject to payment by tho applicant or-the cost of tho work, viz.,
It was decided :-"That a renewed app.cation fro.,,i «* property owner in Hilton Road, Wadostown, fo ran extension of the public sower to his property bo replied to in terms of the councils former decision, viz., that in view of tho heavy expenditure rcquirod to.construct tho extension (£160). the application be hold over for tho present.
llio Baths Committee recommended that an application of tho Director of ,p !? s s s°' °ec for tho free use of tho lo Arp Baths on two mornings per week, between 11.30 and 12.15, for about sixty schoolboys, be not acceded to lhe committee recommended, however that tho director should bo advised that Ins college could utilise tho free swimming days already granted to school children nz., Tuesday afternoon from 2 o clock to 4.30 o'clock, and Saturday mornings from 9 till 11 o'clock. Applicants for permission to erect boatsheds on tho beach at Day's Bay are to bo informed that the council will not consffler applications from individuals to erect boatsheds on tho beach, but if tho boat owners combino to form a club the council will then bo prepared to consider an application from such organisation for permission to leaso a portion of tho foreshore. The trustees of the Roman Catholic cemetery are to be called upon to have tho fennel in the cemetery cut. Attention was drawn to the growth of fennel on the various streets in tho city and suburbs, and the engineer was requested to take steps to have it cleared immediately,
The donors of tho following gifts, to the Zoo were thanked for their presentations: —One pair Java sparrows, Mr. Wilkinson, Masterton; three pairs Peking robins, Wellington Zoological -Society,
Permission to erect a smoko room for bacon-curing purposes_ in Fallowficld Avenue was refused, in view of tho locality being n thickly-populated residential one.
The request of the Wellington "Harbour Board to retain the name of Cornwell Street for one of tho streots on the board's Waterloo Quay Reclamation was agreed to.
