His declaration that 'the Pope was responsible for the present European conflict, in his anxiety to secure world domination, caused a tremendous outburst of invective, and the lecturer, who liwl difficulty in proceeding, ordered tho police to remove several interrupters At the conclusion of the lecture a crowd waited for, and followed, the lecturer, who had to bo escorted by tho police.' He eventually escaped in a motor-car.
