FLOODS IN POVERTY BAY

AN INTERRUPTED MESSI'GE.

Portion of a message regarding floods in the Poverty Bay district was published yesterday, the remainder being blocked by an interruption in the line. The full text of the message is :—

"The Waiapu River has been twice in flood in eight days, and is rising again for the third time. The southern end of the big bridgo was swept away, and the centre span has sunk. There has been considerable loss of, stock. The Poroporo River is also in flood. Tikitiki township is isolated. litigants are unablo to rea£i the Appeal Court. Some articles of food are running short. Many small bridges have gone. Postal arrangements are interrupted. It is hoped the Waiapu will not reach the hgight of the bridge deck, or tho wholo bridge may go."
