TO COMBAT THE MEAT TRUSTS
QUESTION FOR THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. (Rec. February 23, 8.20 p.m.) London, February 22. ,'ln the House of Commons, Mr. C. B. Stanton (Independent Labour) asked Mr. AY. H. Long (Colonial Secretary) whether he would appoint a committee, with a view to cattle-rais-ing in Queensland, New Zealand, South Africa, and Nigeria, to prevent American and other trusts cornering meat, and prevent these trusts securing more land in the colonies for cattle-raising. Mr. Long said that it would be im- _ possible to constitute a committee with- .■ out the assent an;Uco-operation of'tlie-Dominion-'Governments. .
