MUGGY WEATHER
■ Yesterday was another muggy day, close and oppressive. ;,In the north tie weather is still unsettled, and-scattered showers-aro reported-from some parts. The official-indications aro for freshening northerlies, increasing- oloudinc6B, ■and rain. ■ v ROUGH WEATHER ON-BAST COAST By Telegraph.—Press Association. Cisborna, February 23. The rough easterly'that has' been ex* perienced during the last few days has abated, but heavy rain continues. Up to 9'o'clock this morning 7.87 inches had fallen for twelve days' registration. Considerable silting has'occurred in th» river and harbour, ' interfering with, shipping. Waiapu County reports state that) the storm has been heavy, the flood? almost equalling those in May last. At. Tokomaru Bay a brake proceeding to the wharf capsized in the stream and was washed out to sea. A motor-car stuck, in the river and w.a.s also washed out to sea. The steamer Mohowai, which arrived last night,, had a very rough passage of 42 hours.from Auckland! The Arahura has been detained here for. two days, being unable to land her cargo owing .to the' irain.
