A Press Association message from Sydney -last evening recorded the death of Mr. W. A. Gibbs, Sydney manager for the New Zealand National Insurance Company, after over 40 years' service. At tho conference of the Society for the Health oi Women and Children yesterday reference was made to the deaths of Nurses Harold (Wcstport) and Currie (Hawora)., Tlie Central Council was instructed'to formulate a scheme for a memorial to Nurse Harold and submit it Jo''the branches.
•The resignation of Miss Hunt, from the teaching staff of the Wellington Girls' College, was, accepted by the col« lege governors at yesterday's meeting of the board. Mrs. Hornby, 159 Vivian Street, lias received official 'word, that her son, Private A. Hornby, was' killed in action in France on November 21. Private Hornby, who was born in Invercargill, was educated at the Port Chalmers Grammar School. He left with the Main Australian Forces, arid was wounded twice at Gallipoli, and invalided to England. Eventually, he was sent to France,- where he met his tfeath. His elder brother left Wellington with the Fourteenth-Reinforce-ments, and is'now serving in France.
