Miscellaneous, The Under-Secretary for Lands wrote suggesting that Lot i, of Section 101, and Lot 3, of Sections 101 and 102, Block I, Otahoua, be let temporarily to the Masterton Hospital Board fp; grazing purposes. It was resolved to grant- a tem.porary permit at J& per month from April 1. Mr. J. Barnard, a returned soldier, who selected Section 3, Block IX, Wainuoiru (592 acres), on June 30 last, asked permission to sublet it for' 12 months. The subleasing right was not granted, but permission was given to let the grazing for 12 months.
The Ranger reported as to noxious weeds on Education Reserve, Section 325, Foxton Suburbs (4 acres 14 roods' 10 perches), and recommended that Mr. M. Perreau, ofJToxton, be employed to remove them'.iLt an estimated cost of J!2O, and that the section be let to him at a rental of £i per annum. Tho board re- ' solved to spend .£2O, and rive the work to Mr. Perreau provided he took , a, 21 years' lease.
S. Crowthor applied for a renewal of lea6o of Section 1, Block 11, Kaimanawa S.D., 15 aoree, for a period of two j'ears from January 1. It was reeolved to grant him a license to occupy for this period under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at the rental hitherto paid, viz., £3 per annum.
Advice was received that His Excellency the Governor had determined that Run No. 31, Block VII, Karioi, is to be let again for pastoral purposes. It was resolved to grant the present lessee a new license of the run for a period of nine years from March 1, 1918, at a rental of ,£136 per annum, under Section 56 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, subject to resumption in meantime of whatever area is required for riflo range. .
Proposals for disposal of Section 54, Block XII, Mt. Cerberus, wore submitted to the board- for consideration. It was resolved to offer this section for cash by public auction at an upsot prico of £90, weighted with value, to be iked, of existing improvements.
An application for the Crown land vacated by Mr. Creighton was received from Mr. W. Cowern. It was resolved to grant him a temporary permit to occupy from year to year -under Section 130 of the Land Act,/1008, at a rent of £2 per annum, subject to the usual conditions. With regard to a request that theCrown land situated l>etween Section 1, Block V, and Waimarino Native Reserve should be offered on a permanent tenure it was resolved to adhere for tho present to the policy of leasing temporarily. Mr. P. M'Mahon applied for a temporary lease of Section 252, KaetiM township, 1 acre. It was resolved to grant him a permit to occupy temporarily under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of ,£1 per annum, sribject to the usual conditions. Messrs. Goldfinch and Co. offered to pay rent for right to occupy Sections 26 and 31, Block V, Karioi, during the term of their milling license, which -null expire on March 19, 1919. It was Tesolved to grant thorn a license to occupy until expiration of their milling license under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of ,£lO per annum. Mr. A. J. Petere, lessee of Section 3, Block XV, Eetaruke S.D., applied for one of the small lots near Wade's Landing. It was resolved to approve.
