Beattie, agent for Slessrs. tt)algety and Co., was motor-cycling to 'Watiere from here yesterday afternoon when ho fell over a bank beyond the summit .of the Okahu Tunnel Hill, and rolled down a preoipice for a distance of one and a half chains. He fulled up on a_ ledge, where he remained unconscious for an. hour. He then called out, and, his dogs barking, - Interacted two men who were passing bn the road. Assistance was obtained, .fend Beattie was brought out by a horse,' afterwards by motor-car to Taumarunui Hospital. 'He sustained injuries to his spine and a dislocated fchoulder. • MINER KILLED AT WAIHI. By Telegraph—Press Ats6ooiiiatfon. Walhi, February 22. 'A miner named' William Orompton, feged 40, was killed this morning in the Grand Junction mine by' falling out of a cage as it was ascending the shaft. The body, which was terribly mutilated, was found at the bottom of the shaft, the man having fallen 600 feot. He leaves a wife and four Children.
