HATAITAI MUNICIPAL ELECTORS
The committee of theHataitai Municipal Electors' Association met on Monday evening,, Mr. A. D.'Bayfield residing. / It was reported that as a result of re>presr, ntations made by the association various small improvements had recently been carried out in the district by the City Council, and, whilst the association is thankful for these, efforts are to be maintained to secure other urgent requirements. ■ The committee feels that the postal authorities are not aware of the very great inconveniences residents have to put up with in regard to postal matters, and an energetic sub-committee was set up to go into the whole nuestion, and to bring recommendations before the Department with a view to obtaining improvements. J It was decided that the school grounds should be planted with trees this season; and a' sub-commitee (consisting of members who have been so successful in beautifying their own sections) was set up to bring forward a definite scheme, and to arrange, for a working'bee to complete the work. The name plates on streets were reported to be in bad condition, some being mis-snelt, whilst others were absolutelv illegible. The council was approached on this matter some time a<*o, but nothing has been done, and need'»ss trouble is dailv caused to visitors. Further representations', are to be made to the council, as the cost of piittinc the whole of the plates in order would only be small. ' Various instances of stray animals wondering about the district were reported, and steps are to be taken to have the owners thereof brought ■to book should the nuisance continue.
