'ANALYSIS OF VOTING. S> ' Melbourne,,, February 14. ' In a statistical retm.!n laid on the table of tho Houso of !B..epresentatives to-day an exhaustive analysis is given Of the voting at the referendum' on the question of compulsory service oversea. ' This shows that the ©Lectors enrolled for tho whole CommoKw»3alth totalled 2,789,830, of whom 2.308/603 exercised the franchise, a percentavgo of ; 82:75. Tho number who voted for conscription was 1,087,557, and against, it 1,160,033. Tho percentage of "Yes", votes to formal votes cast was 42\92,> and to.tho electors enrolled 33.79. .and of."No" votes 57.08 aud 44.94' respectively. These figures are in tho final returns officially published.. _ (When the wfits were returned a majority of 61,280 votes in favour of "No" was shown. Subsequently immo 17;000 additional votos were connttid. of which approximately J4,000 weiro ' W votes, and the "No" majority waa increased to 72,476. . . . . . As the votes outstandititf. at the return of the writs were principally those of Australian-born sons and daughters , of naturalised persons of eneW origin, which were subject to examination by special tribunals prior to being emuiteci, a significant indication is girt\ri '.by this increase in "No" majority of mc scntimonfc of those electors.
