LATE SIR GEORGE M'LEAN
FUNERAL YESTERDAY. Tho remains of the lato Sir George M'Lcan, which were brought from Dtmedin, wore cremated yesterday in the Karori cemetery. The cortege left the residence of . Mt\ T. M. Wilford, 23 Tinakori Road, soon after 11 o'clock, On the hearse and casket wore many beautiful -wreaths, and tho large number ofpersons who were present at the final rites boro testimony to the esteem in which tho deceased was held. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Wilford (the latter being a .daughter of deceased) Mrs. 0. A. Fraser (another daughter), Mr; F. E. M'Lean _(son), and other members of the family and relatives were the chief mourners.
Cabinet was.represented by the.Hon. A. L. Herdman, Hon. W.' H. Herrios, Hon. AV. Fraaer, Hon. A. 'M. Myers, and Hon. Cf. W. Russell. Among others present were: Mr. J. P. Luke (Mayor), Mr. J. R. Palmer (Town Clerk), Mr. L. Stbwo (Clerk of the Council), tlio Hon. J. a. W. A< .en, M.L.C., and tho Hon. W. Earr -aw, M.L.C., and' Messrs. C. P. Ske' ct, H, Beanchamp, J. B. Harcourr .V. H. Field, M.P.. A. H. Miles, Art ,r Pearce, J. Joser.li, W. A. Kennedy, .'. N. Hiislop, J. E. Jenkinson, P. Levi, J. O'Donovan (Commissioner of Police), 'and Captain A. Hale-Mnnro, and the Rev. Dr. ■T. Kennedy Elliott. ' ' Tho 'Rev. J. Gibson-Smith' was the officiating clergyman, and services were helil in the house and at tho cemetery.
