ROSENEATH RATEPAYERS

The,. meeting of the Roseneath and! Oriental Bay Ratepayers' Association held last evening was well attended. It was decided to write to the City Council asking for an extra electric lamp at Weka Bay, and also suggesting the clearing away of the gorse on the Town Belt at the top of Hay Street. The condition of Lindrum Terrace was strongly discussed bv the association. The terrace is too steep for asphalting, and recently the council was asked to improve it, and a large amount of small gravel was laid down loosely. It is now difficult to walk either up or down the terrace, and it was decided to communicate with the city eengineer on the matter. ' A discussion on representation on the City Council at the- forthcoming election took place, and it was decided to support the candidature of Mr. J. P._ Luke for Mayor. It was also decided to endeavour to get direct representation through a gentleman resident in the district. Grafton Road is a. narrow one, and as a result of a slip eight or nine months ago its widtlil was ireldirced to a minimum. The association decided to write to the City Council and ask them to clear away the slip and widen the road, so as to allow an easy passage for vehicles and pedestrians.
