YACHTING
LONG-DISTANCE RACE. For the long-distance race of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club eleven started. Tho course was from the starting-line round the Pinnacle buoy tp a buoy off Petone Wharf back to .Terningham, thence to the starting-lino. The starters, were:—Waitangi, scr.; Kotiri, lOmiii.; Wairere, 15tnin.; Viola, 19min.; Atlanta and Windward, 26min.; Viking, 27min.; Nannette, 27miu.; Rawene, 35min.; lolantho, 37min.; Venus, 39min. Tho Waitangi, AVairerc, Atlanta, and Nannette started a few minutes late. Windward rounded the Pinnacle buoy first, ; followed closely by tho other boats. I Waiere soon took the lead, and finished 2min. 3sec. ahead of Waitangi. Wairero finished 6hrs. . 22min. 15sec.; Waitangi, 6hrs. 24min. 12sec; Viola, 6hrs. 34uiin. 'SOsec.; Venus, 6hrs. 36miu. 26sec.; Kotiri, 6hrs. -ilniin. 35sec; lolanthe, 6hrs. 43min. 27sec. On timo allowance A. Elton's Venus was placed first, G. M'Lean's lolanthe second, . and E. Bucholz's Wairere third. Mr. R. Millman was handicapper, and Mr. H. Jordan, starter, judge, and timekeeper. YACHT CLUB SPORTS. The events at the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's picnic resulted as under:— • Ladies' running race—Miss E. Porter. Ladies' rowing race—N. Kiernan. Boys' running race—Brecne. Men's rowing race—H. Edlund.
