FIRST ANNUAL KB PORT.
The fir.st• uiinual report, of ilio "Wellington Chora 1 Union, with which is incorporated the Royal Wellington Choral Society and the- Wellington Musical Union, states that the year's work has been highly successful, both musically and financially. The male scction of the chorus lias heen considerably weakened owing to the large number of members having joined the colours, no fewer than fiftyseven being on active service. Early in July the chairman of committee. Mr. 11. T. Caldow, tendered his resignation, owing to his removal from Wellington. During the many years he has been connected with the Choral Society ho has taken a live interest in its welfare, and its success is largely due to his efforts as chairman. Mr. Frank Young' was clected chairman, and Mr. "W. R. Bock was appointed to the committee. ' _ / Tho outgoing committee has been seriously considering' tho operations „of tho union for the ensuing year, and strongly recommends the reappointment of Mr. Robert Parker as conductor, and the appointment of Mr. Temple "White as deputy. The committee feel that under tho leadership of these gentlemen tlie succss of the forthcoming season, can be confidently anticipated. . . "Vincent "Wallace's . opera, ' Alaj-i----tana" is the work selected for the first concprt this year. . The crcdil balance oil January 31 was £11 4s. Id.
