THE COAL OUT-PUT
THE "GO-SLOW" POLICi". The Government at present is up against a difficult problem in regard to the coal output. The miners throughout the Dominion have apparently adopted the "Go Slow" Policy, and in some of the principal mines production has been reduced by at least one-third, in spite of'the fact that the same number of men i? employed. All users of coal are expecting a shortage of supplies, and increased cost, and some firms are taking-steps to provide substitutes in case of a complete stoppage. The Gas and Electric Light Companies are always the first To. feel the cfl'ect of any interruption in the . coal supply, as was the case in Sydney recently wlieir the city was in darkness' for several nights. In' the event of a'coal, strike in New Zealand many country people would be better off so far' as house and shop lighting is conccrjied than the City dweller.?, as during the past two years over 2000 country homes and stores have been fitted with "Wizard Lighting Systems." The "Wizard Light' is being generally adopted for liouso and store lighting in all country districts, and the N.Z. Agents, .Messrs. Early Bros., find it difficult to keep pace with the demand. This light is cheaper, cleaner, and bettor in quality than Coal Gas, and users are independent of labour troubles. The lamps produce gas from a mixture of 97 per cent, air ami 3 per ccnt. benzine vapour, and provided a case of benzine is kent in reserve, labour troubles cannot interfere with the owner of a "Wizard" Plant so far as' his house or storo lighting is concerned. Messrs. Early Bros., 59 fiubn Street, Wellington, will be pleased to supply full particulars of the "Wizard" Light, wliicli is being used extentively by the N.Z. Government. Banks, Schools. Colleges, Institutes, Churches, llalls. Stores, Homos." and Buildings of all sorts in the Dominion.—(Published by Arrangement.)
