HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL —■ " The monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday, Mr. Wakeham being in the chair. There were also present: Councillors J. Wliiteman, W> Galloway, Welch, and Howell. A letter was rccerved from the Wellington City Council with respect to the hydro-electric scheme for the district, and the chairman was appointed to represent the. county at the proposed conference of local bodies. • A poll, in connection ivitli a, loan of £1000 for improvements at Pliminerton will be taken on March 14. The transfer of a .slaughterhouse license from Hooper Bros, to A. J. l{obinson was approved. It was decided to impose a penalty of 10 per cent, on all county rates remaining unpaid after March 30. The inspector of works was authorised to spend £75 on necessary work in tlie Melling settlement.
