ACTIVITY ON ALL FRONTS » BRITISH GAIN FRESH SUCCESS THE RIGA BATTLE 'Although the weck-ond exploits of the German submarine pirates resulted in the loss of some additional, ships of our mercantile marine, yesterday witnessed a sudden drop. No big liners and only a few trawlers wero sunk. The genoral situation on the sea is highly favourahle, Gorman bombast notwithstanding. On land there are signs of reawakening activity on all fronts. The great hattlo on the Riga front still rages unceasingly, and despito the vigour and weight of the Gorman counter-attacks, tho Russians still continue to hold their now lino. The Austrians havo been attacking at Corizia, but to no purpose. On tho British front in the West the advanco which was unostentatiously commenced some days ago, and has since been marked by a series of brilliant succosses, has boon pushed a further stage by the capturo of a strong system of trench works north of the 'Ancre.
