The Government is considering further curtailing the importation of paper and paper-making materials, and advise importers to restrict' their contracts after March , 1, as their licenses niay bo curtailed. The Government is taking the whole* output of the whisky distilleries for some months for the production of explosives. It is expected that whisky will he shortly retailed at 10s. per bottle. The Petrol Committee is further restricting private consumption of petrol after March. This step is believed to foreshadow tho complete abolition of pleasure motoring. , The Press Bureau states: "Tho Food Controller will prohibit dealings in sugar, without a permit, outside tho United Kingdom, and will require returns of stocks, brewors' stocks, stocks in warehouses, and new arrivals."— Aue.-N.Z.
