MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL
Tho monthly meeting of the Ma,knra County Council was held .yesterday, Mr. J. H. Hagg'erty beinc in the cl>nir. There were also present: Councilors Geo. Monk, S. Rryant. F. .T, ■•MwaA. J. Tavlor, and S. R. Mcxted. The draft plans and sneeifications prepared by the county clerk of- the footpaths of Porirua were anproved, and directed to be forwarded to the Public Works Department. Tho dimensions and positions of tho t.wo concrete culverts at t.ho head of tlie Ngahauranga Gorge Road wore decided upon, and instructions issued to the foreman to have the work put in hand at once, and a committee, consisting of the chairman and Councillor Tnvlor. was appointed to supervise the work. The Wellington Hospital Hoard notified the existence of a. case of tuberciil"?is at Porirua East. The chairman • was appointed the county's delegate to the propound conference of l<val bnd'es to consider the question of hydro-electric pnwev sunpL- cal'ed by the Mayor of Wellington. Hie foreman recommended that certain works should bo "nrried out, including a cub'ert at, Tiiahi Bay and another on East, Porirua Road, a'ul this was ordered to lie done. He nlso reported that the hride-e nt. East Porirua was nearing completion.
