Tuck Boxes for Missionaries. The great work that is being done by our missionaries in tiie Melancsian Islands is so well recognised by the AVellington public that it is only necessary to mention that tho Southern Cross will bo leaving for tho Islands soon, and that people aro asked, to contribute something towards tho tnck boxes that aro sent from Now Zealand once a year. Hitherto a very liberal response ras been made to Miss Mestayer's annual appeal, and it is to be hoped that this, too, will be a successful year. Any of tho following articles will be most acceptable:—Meat extracts, Mulford's predigestod beef, plain chocolate (all makes), cocoa (all makes'), plasmon cocoa (all makes), ISnglish biscuits (small tins), dessert raisins, Mellin's foods, Conriak's foods, Allenbury's food, Robinson's groats, Robinson's barley, dried! apricots, prance, crystalised ginger, tins of toffee, dry boiled sweets, dried milk, N.Z. concentrated milk (Milkmaid), cornflour, pickles, home-made jam (firm kinds in 21b. treaclo; tins), honey (in tins), and tins of vegetables, especially asparagus, wines, orange syrup, limejnice, ]imojuico tablets, vibrona, vibrona malt, orange and quinine, wine, Stoamc's wine, beef and iron wine, quinine port wine, celerina, all malt or .maltine preparations, Easton syrup tabloids, hypophosphites tabloids, tonics, paregoric elixir, chlorate of potash and cocaine tabloids, solution of nitrate of silver, lunar caustic, kreso, lysol, kerol, all disinfectants, hazeline (cream and fluid), vaseline, Elliman's embrocation (strongest), lanolinc, oraollientine, plaster rolls, antiphlogistin, any medical samples, bandages, absorbent cotton wool, clean white rags, safety pins, lint, any otlier dressings, surgeons' needles and threads, illustrated papers, good current novels, empty treacle tins, 21b. (must be clean and free from rust), also mustard, cocoa, coffee, and other medium-sized tins with tight lids, and 2oz. oblong tobacco tins. Contributions in cash or goods should bo sent to Miss Mestayer, "Sunnybank," 130 Sydney Street, Wellington. Contributions should be sent in before March 31. Patriotic Cake Room. Mrs. Russell Graco and family (Wanganui), who Spent the Jioli-lnys wnh Mrs. Stead, in Cliristelnirch, have returned home. Mrs. Reeve (Wangatiui) is the guest of Mrs. Acton-Adams (Tipapa), Canterbury. Mi's. J. W. Salmoud leaves to-mor-row for Heretaunga, where 'she will spend a fortnight. Sister Patrick,,who has boen nursing at Trentham since her return to New Zealand by the hospital ship Marama, has been granted three months' leave of absence, to undertake the duties of matron-m-charge at Karitaue Hospital, Duuedin, during the absence of ' the matron, Miss Morgan. Sister Patrick left for the south on Monday evening. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Convalescent Homo was held at Miss Coates's, Hobson Stretft, yesterday. Present: Mesdames W. S.
