NOTES AND COMMENTS
.'Bt Glencoe.l The. Tamnaki Cup fixtui-e will toko pla'co to-morrow and Thursday. Tho Cup will be decided on tho opening day, and the Third Taranaki .Stakes on Thursday. It does not look as if thpro will bo more than three starters in tho' woiglvt-for-ago event. These are Bimeter, Bisogne, and Estland. Tree Lucerne and Ccasefiro are also engaged, but on Egmont Stakes form they oa.n hn,vo little chance of reversing positions ■with tho place-getters. Samisen, 9st. 61b., has a good weight in tlie Flying Handicap at Blenheim, but as she is such a good beginner Mr. A. W. Rutherford's maro may be a good favourite if she goes to the post. . J. O'Shea had five winning rides at' Egmont, and now that C. ErueTSon has had to take nn enforced spell O'Shea would' appear to hove a great ohance of heading the winning list for the second year in succession. Although there wore only two starters in the Atkinson Memorial Stakes at Hawera, there was ' some interference, and after the .race G.. Clarke, the rider of Analogue, was fiued J£s in connection with the occurrence. The Trentham nmro. Miss De Val, is not badly treated with 7st. lllb. in the Publicans' Handicap at the Dunedin Meeting, and' if her owner decides to send her south she will find plenty of supporters from the North Island. - Toa Tere. Bst. olb., is not by any; moans harshly treated in'the Tamnaki Cup, and if in his best, form the Mauiopoto gelding should give a good account of himself to-morrow. . It will -not be in his favour th.at lir is having his first race for some months. So far nothing definite has been decided as to whether Rewi Poto- will' make the trip to' Dunedin,- but the probabilities arc> that he will be found competing at Wc<idville on the same dates. The blade-horse is not at homo over a twelve-furlongs course, and all 3>ie successes have been, gained over shorter distances. Janitor, who wn.s purohnfietl last December on behalf of a well-known Akaroa. sporbmau, will make his first appearance in his new owner's colours at tho Dunedin Meeting- next week. Tho presence of the chestnut eeldine. VBotp. and Plymouth, should lend additional interest to the jumping events at the Wingatni fishiTe. The. Summer Meeting of the 3farl- - Club takes place to-morrow and Thursday. Visitors fo ths mcptins will he flhk to kave by the .MaTrowriia,. .which sails at 6 o'clo'ck to-nie-ht.
