YACHTING NOTES
(By "Jib.") Last Saturday the Te Jluru Cup was ract'd oft', when the yachts left the Boat Harbour the.wind was a little too fresh for full sail, consequent)}' one or two reefs had to be put in. A fine start was made, but as the boats reached. Jerningham buoy they were able to carry full sail again. 'When they made Korokoro buoy they were becalmed, and lay about like a lot of scattered sheep. Later in the afternoon -the launch Wolseley came to tho assistance and towed the nine boats home—such a sight as is seldom seen, in Wellington harbour. On Saturday a launch race was held. The course was the same course as the yachts. Altogether there were nine entries, but only live started. The results were: Nellie (22mm.*), 1; Tunanui (23min.), 2; Silver's Launch (31niin.), 3. Also started: Wqlsoley (scr.), Marie (25min.). The launches Dauntless and Eesolu.tion are expected to he on a trip to tlie Sounds shortly. The launch Doris is away on a trip to Me Sounds. Two well-known yachtsmen, "Jock" Langford and "Jimmie" Littleboy, Isare gone into camp. They aro wished by all the yachtmen the very best of luck. The ocean race will take' place on Saturday, February 10. So far there are four entries—Bona, "Kbtiri, ,Viking, and lolanthe. To-day there will'tie a race to Potorie, ■where" there will be afternoon tea supplied by the ■ P.N.Y.C. members. All memuers are asked to go ashore and malje the Petone men's good offer a success.
