Mr. P. E. M'Carthy, S.M., leaves Napier to-day for Wellington lo assist in the military service ballot. Daltou, relumed, from tha North yesterday morning. Mr. Dalton will leave Wellington to-day for an official tour of the South Island. He will be accompanied by Mis. Dalton. The death is announced, at Wood* bridge, Tasmania, of Dr. Charles Turner, father of Mr. E. Phillips Turner, of Tinakori Bbad, Wellington. !At yosterday'e meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Committee, the chairman, Mr. F. Meadowcroft expressed pleasure at see-; ing Mr. J- Ilott present, the latter' having but lately recovered from indis-" position. Mr. A. J. Thompson, Clerk of theQueenstown Magistrate's Court, has re* ceived instructions to proceed to Christ*: church. He will be succeeded by Mr* J. M. Adam, of Lawrence. "Mr. William O'Sullivan, who foil somo years was accountant for Messrs F. W. Cottrell and Co., died en Monday. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. O'SuUivan, Chief ■ Inspector of. Schools in Auckland, and dad been in ill-health for a long time before hiis death. Ho has left a widow but no children. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. Mr. Charles Alfred Budge died suddenly'at Hawera on Satimlay last. The deceased was lor years clerk cand tresurer to the Hawera County Council. He was born in Blenheim in 1860, and was a son of the late William Budge, surveyor, who came to .Nelson with the early settlors. Mr. Charles Budgo was. educated at Nelson College, entered the service of the National Bank at Blenheim in 1876, and was subsequently afc the bank's branches at Wellington, Eeeftou, Greymouth, Christchurch, and. Nelson. In 1883 ho removed .to Havrera, whore he settled and remained until his decease. He was always a keen sportsman and athlete. As a footballer, when only seventeen, he represented Wellington in inter-provincial matches, and was one of the earliest members of the Athletic Football Club. The death has occurred at his residence, Epßom, of Mr. 6. F. Brimblo combe, an old resident of Auckland* Mr. Brimblecombe was for many jears connected with tho Auckland Stock Exchange, and moro leoently was an ac-< tive member of tho Mount Eden Bowling Club. For some time past he had been in failing health, and his death was not unexpected. Hβ is survived by. a widow. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Buckeridge hare • returned from Nelson, where they spenti their holidays.
