Thomas Jones, 46 years of age, a horse' trainer at Hastings, fell from ,a bedroom window of an hotel, and sua* lained injuries from which he died. DROWNED IN THE MANAWATtT RIVER. FOXton, January 29. Daniel Rafferty, single, 34 years of •ago, was drowned while bathing in the* Manawatu River at Moutoa yesterday morning. The polfco recovered the body during tho afternoon. At the inquest this morning a verdict was Te- • turned- of accidental drowning. Deceased came from Melbourne, and was employed at tho Whitanui flaxmill. WOMAN BURNT TO DEBATE. Auckland, January 29. Bessie Schmidt, a. widow, _aged 66 years, was burned to death in a fire which, at 1.30 o'clock this morning, partly destroyed the house in which she lodged. LOST OVERBOARD FROM A LAUNCH. Dunedin, January 29. William Heath, 40 years of age, was washed from a fishing launch at Puketaraki last night, and is bolieved to have been drowned. DEATH IN THE HARVEST FIELD. By Telegraph . After working for a few hours he cotlapsed and died. Deceased was a single man, and belonged to one of the oldest families in the district.
