SOUTHERN , GRAIN MARKET. ' ' ' Christchurch, January 25. There has been a fair amount of wheat offering, but in the uncertainty regarding the price little business has been done. It is reported that a tew stiaigntout sales have taken place at from ss. 6d. to ss. 9d. Country stations and others ore nominally at ss. 6d., and' are subject to adjustmen i£ a price is fixed by the Government. Very few oats are offering, an the prices are unchanged. Barley is now beginning; to come forward, but the quality varies considerably, ranging from feed to prime malting. The latter -is selling at from. 4s. to 4s. 3d., and me r dium quality and feed lines are at lower rates. Owing to the farmers being busy with the grain harvest there is a much smaller quantity of 'grars seed offering, and the scarcity of. good samples has made this Quality a litllo firmer. More attention is being paid to 201b. and 231b. seed, which is selling at from 2s. 6d. to 3s. Id.; under 201b. is at 2?. upwards. Some business has been done in new oatsheaf, sales having been made at from £3 ss. to £3 10s. for tally delivery, and £3 for forward' delivery, at country stations.
