Mrs. Massey Abroad. Writing from England on Decamber 2, Mrs. W. F. Massey says that they are in London again, after two weeks in Scotland and Ireland, and in spito of the bad weather liad a very interest-ing-time. Everywhere tliey went thoy received the greatest kindness and hospitality, and everywhere! hoard tlio praises of tlio New Zealand soldiers. "Wo know that they woll deserved tlio highest praise which was given them, and which they have won so dearly." Mrs. Massey lias spent a few days with her son, Lieutenant Massey, who had been through tho Sommo offensive, in London. This was his first leave since leaving New Zealand last year. Women's National Reserve. A well-attended and most enthusiastic meeting was. held at the Upper Hutt in tho Record Hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Porter, organising secin compliance with tho local invitation, addressed the meeting, setting forth tho aims and objects of rho organisation. It was decided to form a branch there. A number of names were handed in, and next Wednesday afternoon x was . arranged for enrolliag members, when the secretary and committee will organise the best methods of working for that' district. At the close of the meeting a very hearty voto of thanks to Mrs. Porter for her attendance and speech was carried hy acclamation. 1 . "After tho meeting Colonel and Mrs. Porter, as well as all tho people assembled, were entertained at afternoon tea by-Lieut. M'Curdy and family. A vote of thanks was proposed to the entertainers and carried by acclamation. The day being fine, tho function was most enjoyable; a very pleasant time was spent hy all present. Lieut. M'Curdy has most generously placed the fine Record Hall, as well as the adjoining rooms, which are equipped with all that is needed; for refreshment and entertairimont. at tho disposal of tbo Upper Hutt branch of the AVomen's National Reserve. . Mrs. Rutherford and Miss Rutherford have gone .to Miss Malcolm's. Mi's. Moore is in Miss Speed's house in Hobson Street. Mrs. Frank Herrick is staying with j her mother, Mrs. A. de Batho Brandon, Hobson Street, Miss Hamlin and Miss Allen, of Hawke's Bay, are staying at the Hotel Windsor. , Mrs. Audrey Johnston loft Napier on Thursday to join her sister, Mrs. Keith M'Leod. Both ladies will shortly proceed to. England to be near their hsubands, who are both lieutenants on active service. ■Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Limbriek, of Waipawa, have returned home after a'short visit to Wellington. Miss IL Holmes, who. has been visiting her sister, Lady M'Lean, and other relatives in the South Island, has returned to her homo in Hawkestone Street. Mr. and Mrs. Vallanco and Mr. and Mrs. D. Caselberg, of tlio Wairarapa ■who motored down to Wellington for-a flying visit, have returned home. Mrs, .and Miss .Edwin havo_ returned from their trip to tho Rangitikei. Sir Henry and Lady Green Kelly, of Ireland, havo arrived in Wellington on their way to Australia. Thoy are accompanied by their four children. Soldiers' Room Hostesses. —Sunday, Mrs. C. R. The members of tho Young Women's Christian Association are preparing for a plain and fancy dress evening, to bo held on Tuesday, February 6, in tho club-rooms, Fowlds's Buildings, when they will welcome back Miss Birch, who is returning to Wellington after a holiday spent in Australia. ' Mrs. Abe M'C'onell and family arc staying at .Waimarama. Miss Rothenberp has x returned to Wellington and will resume her duties as lion, secretary of tho Sydney Street Soldiers' Club to-day. A quiet wedding took place at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral on Tuesday afternoon, when Mr. H. F. Connolly, of Auckland, was married to Miss Doris Buckeridge, oldest daughter of Mrs. T. Buckeridge, ..The Terrace. The bride, who was dressed in. a cream gabardine costume, was attended by Miss Linda Hornibrook, while Mr. Tremayno was best man. Tho Rev. A. M. Johnston was the officiating minister; Tho bride and bridegroom leave for Auckland for a few weeks, after which Mr. Connolly, who has enlisted, will enter camp. A meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was hold on Friday afternoon, Mrs. A. R. Atkinson presiding. There were also present: Mesdames 6.
