POLICE OASES. Mr. W. G. Eiddell S.M., presided over a sitting of tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. For insobriety, William J.itocs Wilson was fined 205., and 'Arthur Jao. Finch ss. Udcfonso Herniosilla, a seaman, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment for deserting from his 6hip, and was ordered to be placed on hoard when tho vessel sailed , . IA! lad named William James. M'Cullough was remanded till February 2 on a ohargo of stealing a- postal packet containing tobacco tickets. Donald Charles Livingstone, charged with fraudulently converting to his own übo tho sum of £1 los. 3d., was remanded to appear at Christciiurch to-day. CIVIL CASES.
