The Storm is to sail this afternoon for southern ports. Messrs. Johnston and Co. advise that the auxiliary schooner Echo is to leave Napier thie afternoon with a cargo of pelts and. wool. She should arrive here some time on Saturday. On account of her late arrival in port last evening, the Orepuki .does not leave here for Nelson, Terakohe, Greymouth, and Nydia Bay until this day at 3 p.m. In pursuance of a definite policy for the improvement of Auckland Harbour, the Auckland Harbour Board is pushing on since the holidays with a number of more or less important works. The basin between the Queen Street Wharf and the Central Wharf is being dredged to a depth of 35ft. at,low water spring tide. Tho demolishing of No. 3 jetty is to be commenoed practically at once. Steady progress is being mado with the reclamation work to tho eastward of the City Council's power station, and excavation work has been started on the Beach Koad. At the north-east corner of Freeman's Bay the area already reclaimed is being levelled. Authorisation has also been received for the new wharf in course of construction at" Kauri Point.

Huddart-Parker, Ltd., advise that tho Westralia will now leave Wellington at 5 n.m. to*dav for Sydney, via Napier, Oiehorne, nnd Auckland. She will wait long enough at Napier to conncct with the Wellington express, which is tinned to reach Napier at 6.12 p.m. on Saturday.
