Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows Our monthly stock sale was held at Taumarunui oil January 23. We( had a good entry of botli aheep and cattle. 1 Buyers were in attendance in large numbers, and competition wa/S .animated.' We had practically a total clearance, good prices ruling throughout. The •bulk of the yarding "was purchased by local/ farmers. Four and sii-tooth ewes brought <&>. 7d.; two and | four-tooth •wethers, 335. 3d.; two-tooth ewes (small), 245. 9d.; aged rams, 12s. to 215.; forward cows, .-610 65., £10 Bs. 6d., to £11' 10s.; store cows, £8 to £8 12s. 6d.; three-year steers. £12 Bs.; two-year steers, £9 IQs.; cows, and calves, £10 10s.,- £12 123. 6d.J to £13'55.; fifteen-months heifers, £6 lis/, £6 17s. id., to £7 55.; weaner steers, £s'7s. 6d.; small mixed -weaners, £2 12s. 6d. to £3* Bs. 6d.; bulls (boDers), £7 17s. 6d., £9 10s., to £14. A herd. of. thirty dairy'cows in rather low copdltion 'brought £7 ss. to. £10 10s., averaging £9 3a. '
The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua stock sale, held on Tuesday, as follows:— We ottered a large yarding of sheep and a smalL entry of cattle to a good attendance o£ buyers. The sheep consisted principally of lambs, and owing to the dry weather and shortage of rape in this district, prices were considerably lower than at the previous sale. With the exception of three pens of lambs we Quitted our yarding at very satisfactory, prices.. We quote as follows:—47l two-tooth wethers (late shorn), 31s. «.; 60 do. (good),. 325. 7d. ; 20 do. (medium), 265.; 17A shorn ewe lambs (medium), 16s. 4d.; 154 shorn wether lambs, 16s. lid.; 100 do. (medium), 155.; 200 do., 13s. 6d.; 162 Southdown lambs (good), 215.; 206 do.. 17s. lid.; 100 do., 16s. lid.; 113 do. (medium), 15s. 6d.; 65 do., 165.; 46 do., 135.; i.202 culls, "129.; 28 do., 9s. 7d.;. 28 do., 9s. 7d.; 24 do., 11s.; 62 do., 95.;'122 do., 12s. 7d.; 217 do., 12s. 6d.; 22 fat and forward ewes, 263. ;■ 2 prime fat cows, £13 10s. At Pukekinau we held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr. J. C. Croad. With the exception of a pen of ewes which were sold on the low side, everything met with keen competition. Pour, six and f.m. ewes, 315.; two-tooth ewes, 345.; shorn ewe lambs, 18s. 3d.;,shorn wether lambs, 16b. 9d.; 2 Eomney rams, 3&gns., end 2 do., £1 Is.; Lincoln rams, 2jns. and 3gns.; ho'rses, £23, £17, and £5. One two-tooth ewe and lamb, donated by Mr. J. C. Croad, and sold on account of the Red Cross Fund, realised £4 10s. 6d.'
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency v Co., Ltd., Dannevirke, report on the following sales:—There was a gooa attendance of buyers at Woodville on January 22, when a good yarding of both sheep and cattle was offered. Prices were well maintained, and we quote as follows:— Sheep:, Four-tooth forward -wethers, 345. 6d.,; fat owes, 335.; four-year-old ewes, 30s. 6d.; B.m. ewes, 265.; two tooth wethers, 285.: lambs, to 17s. Cattle: Fat heifora, £9 lCs. to £12; fat cows, to £13 10s.; cows and calves, to £13 10s.; weaners, to £3-16s. At Makotuku on January 24 a heavy/yard-
[Ms of sheep came forward to a, fair attendance of buyers. Prices showed a distinct rise, and were maintained throughout the. day, lambs in particular being iu good demand. Wo quote:—Sheep: Twotooth wothers, 335.; s.ni. ewes, 325.; store ewes, .28s. Bd.; rape lambs, 196.10 d.; fat and forward lambs, 235. 6d.; fat ewes, 345. Cattle: Forward cows, £9; weaners, £3 35.; fifteen-month steers, £7 12s. 6d.; flftcenmouth heifers, £6'2s. 6d.
